Little Red Riding Hood

Wowee, I hope if the year starts with such a bang it will keep going:). I'm back to "almost" normal after the school year's start and will hopefully be scrapping again soon!! I have a few projects up my sleeve but will post them as we go along:)

The Scraphouse launched a competition last year for their 2nd Birthday bash. In your pack was a range of prints and some plains and the challenge was to create a double page with a heading using only the paper provided!! NO other embellishments, NO ribbon, NO buttons - only stamps and punches.

I created this LO with paper ribbon strips, punched circle flowers and stamped a title for my page. I absolutely adore these photos of my little one playing with my winter coat!!

The LO won me a cool voucher to spend in Ria's lovely shop:)

Woweeeee! When the year starts it definitely takes no prisoners!! With our business the school year-end and start is absolute chaos so you'll have to excuse the lack of LO's this time round:) - I'm sure you understand;).

These are some of the holiday pics from the pool at Granpa and Granny's house. We celebrated Christmas there and this is one of the priviliges of living in South Africa over Christmas! We do not have a beautiful white Christmas but we have OODLES of sunshine and stunning summer days!!

These photos reminded me of some wishes i had........

....may you JUMP at every opportunity that comes your way (and may they jump at you!!!!) with total exuberance and expecting the best..................................

A Groovie December

The Groovie Cover for December is a variety of titles - covering all the different short stories by John Steinbeck.

I've used different titles as if they were Chapters in the Book of my Life - if I were to ever write an autobiography, that is:)

Strips of paper with the printed titles and a few embellishments to create the look:). Strips of antique book pages creates a paper ribbon border strip that ties in with the book "theme" of the page. Using the same book pages with embellishments also unifies the theme of the LO.

Advent or otherwise....

Thought I'd better post something scrappy again:). I just love this little advent calender from Karen Foster Design. My little princess is really into her earrings and instead of creating an advent calendar I turned it into handy storage for little earrings. You can imagine sorting through 50 pairs of earrings the size of a pea to find matching pairs! This way it can be colour co-ordinated or sorted by shape or size:)

I chose printed paper that will hold it's appeal for a few years - the hip lipstick and high heel design will be more attractive in 5 year's time than pastels and teddy bears!

The boxes are about 4x4cm and perfect for storing all the little itty bitty things! You can even use it as an advent calender and turn it into a storage system after Christmas (mmmm .... especially if you use the teal and brown BoBunny Xmas range - gorgeous:)).

Hope you are inspired to create some Christmas goodies:)

This year for my birthday I signed my leave for the day before my bday (one of the advantages of having your own business - you sign your own leave:0 - disadvantage is there is never time for leave as time is money:).

My whole house was filled with the smells of baking and chocolate - a VERY good smell to start your bday;)

This is my gift to me from me - created from scratch........by myself! I was so proud I thought I'll take photies to share with you:) - know you won't mind drooling a bit on your keyboard:)

The cake itself was red velvet ...mmmmmmmmmmmm..... with a cream cheese icing and chocolate all round:)

I even baked and decorated my cupcakes:) . These ones were doubly chocolaty..........

.......and these ones were melted toffee centres with sugared rose petals and handmade (you guessed it - by myself:) double dip chocolate hearts..

It was the best pre-bday day ever!!! I have the extra bits and pieces on my body to proof they were really good:) - now all I need is the perfect paper to scrap these yummy photos!!

Any ideas.........................?

At last! As promised the cards made from the add-on pack to the Merry Xmas layout. I made a little add-on kit in addition to the LO kit - since it was only a single page there were loads of stunning off-cuts to beautiful to go to waste!!

A few extras made these cards elegant and a real time saver! A little ribbon.....

..................blocks and bows........................... ....and even two cute tags!

Early Xmas wishes!

We had such an awesome day with The Scraphouse in Wellington on Saturday! I designed a single page for the event with the Teresa Collins Noel range. (still can't believe we are already thinking about Christmas:)

Using different techniques to create a cluster corner we had hours of fun creating! The day started of with a travel box with two albums with Ria and we ended the day with my LO! I love teaching and this was such a stunning venue to teach.

There are still some kits available from Ria with instructions to create ribbon roses, layered flowers, covering a matching button (and no, you don't have to crochet the tree:).

Also in the kit is a add-on pack to create four Christmas cards and two tags with the cut-offs from the kit! (will post the cards next week - you can't have it all at once:))

...............................and before I forget.......................

Groovie November

It's time to get creative at Groovie Covers with the November Cover!! This one really made me think and I just LOVE playing with ideas that's a little out of the box:)

This is the stunning November cover:....................

..................and this is my take:)

I used different keys to mimic scraplift the cover idea and I hung them with wax string from heart pins to tie in with the title! (one of these days I will get my hands on some bakers twine!!!!!)

A chocoholic's dream come true!!

For as long as I can remember I dreamed of working with chocolate - melting it and playing with it - creating with it................and my dream came true - I did a STUNNING chocolate class and these are my creations! I even made the roses from scratch:)

My favourite is the square cake (one serving size)

Then off course the gorgeous cupcake!!

......and this is the amazing full size cake! Even with chocolate flames and leaves and the beautiful roses!

As if that is not enough I made some chocolate brownies today - they were the BEST ever and the melted chocolate with white chocolate streaks on top was the perfect ending to a scrumptious bake session!!

...........................only problem is I have to get up EVERY morning at 6 to try and get rid of all the extra chocolate on my hips - that is where they tend to end up:)

Now to scrap these photos - maybe I'll just grab one more brownie for inspiration:))

A BoBunny Thank You

Using the stunning Gabrielle (again:)) was perfect for this Thank You card. The beautiful edge on the semi-circle is from the die-cut circle page in the range. How often do we use half of a circle on our LO and the other half just floats about in our stash?? This is the perfect way to use it on a card....

Trim 4" x 6" print and adhere to card front. Trim die-cut circle into quarters (into half if you only have half a piece left!!:) and adhere to print on card front. Adhere other elements and sentiment to card. I used the Spellbinders Nestabilities die to create the framed sentiment - the sentiment is stamped on antique book paper to add interest.

Don't forget ....................next week is another challenge at Groovie Covers - very interesting cover to inspire you!!!

Grab your stash (especially those old semi-circles!!!) and start creating!!

Bo Bunny Butterfly Magic

I just loved working with the Bo Bunny Gabrielle range - every paper blew my mind and it was so difficult cutting up the gorgeous designs to design cards!!

This is a very effective technique - really easy but looks like it took ages of pewter work! The strip is metal tape (used in plumbing - I think - buy it on a roll from the hardware store PLUS it is self adhesive! Stick a strip to cardstock - run through the cuttlebug (it can be embossed or cut!) and smear some paint over the top! Voila!

The butterfly is stamped on music paper and again on transparency with stayz-on. Cut both out and adhere only on the body of the butterfly for a 3D effect.

At the top of the card I used my Zutter binder to create some texture!

Once again we had an awesome Charity Challenge at Scrapbook Convention this year. AS promised the LO I created for the challenge:)

Keep in mind you are only allowed to use what is in your packet and you only have one hour from start to finish!! The only thing you know beforehand is the theme - not even the paper range you'll be using!!!

I used a curling technique on my page edge (have never seen it used anywhere before and thought it might be very effective:) and created a bit of a 3D cherry with circles.
The recipe I wrote for my daughter:

Heaps of unconditional love
Handful of exuberance
Ton of self-confidence
Smidgen of modesty
Whisk in sweetness and spice
Fold in dreams
Pinch of hope
Mix together with praise and encouragement

Fabscraps USA - here I am!

At last I'm loaded (no, not the way you think - can't borrow yet:)! I've been designing cards for Fabscraps, with the two new ranges being launched in the USA. The first range is the Shabby Chic and you can hop over here and have a look at the four cards under the projects heading! The cards also have instructions if you want to "cardlift" the idea.

I love the range and the new double sided paper is stunning to work with. With every range there is also a heap of embellishments that compliments it and that make life a little easier (and the choices much more difficult 'cause now you "need" the whole range:).

They also launched the new on-line catalogue with the ranges and matching additions - go have a look here - all the cards in the catalogue were designed and created by me (well, I have to brag a little - sure you understand;)

Groovie Covers

You just have to hop over to Groovie Covers and play with. This is such a lovely and inspiring idea. Each month a book cover is loaded onto the blog as inspiration for your LO's!! The Month of September is inspired by this awesomely interesting cover.
This is my take on the book cover:)

I loved playing with the paint effect and added some antique gold glimmer mist to run right to the edge of the page. The butterfly is punched into the white space on the photo. The paper ribbon and butterfly punch just brings the colours together. My LO felt a little heavy at the bottom and the two see-through flowers at the top corner did the trick to balance it out!

Punchy punch punch!

I absolutely LOOOOVE playing with the Martha Punches - especially the around the page punches! This teeny tiny flower punch is one of my favourites and it looks really nice on a card as well!

I used 3D squares to lift the middle blocked printed paper and added a lace border behind to add a little texture to the page. The flower design is a fussy cut from the print and a little dimensional pearl added to accentuate the leaves and flowers!

The journaling reads (in my favourite letter stickers - off course:) : "Princess, may every wish you make come true" ................and that is also my wish for you!

My right hand helper at home asked me to cover her Bible to last a bit longer and to make the plain black cover a bit more interesting. In her words she knows I can do this as I have all the pretty scrapbooking goodies in my scrap space! I've many times seen her looking at my newest creations and she always comments on how lovely they are (I often think she must think I'm insane buying all this paper:).

This was a challenge as the book had a shiny plastic "shrinkwrapped" onto the cover and no glue would stick to it!! In the end I removed the first three layers of the cover and had a blank piece to work with. The Bible also travels in her handbag so I couldn't add any bulky embellishments!!

This is the end result - the photo isn't to great as it was raining and she wanted to take it home and not wait for me to photograph it properly:). I covered it with sticky plastic all way round as she goes to church three times a week - it'll just last a little longer!

I created a bookmark with the left-overs and she was absolutely thrilled!! She says the little children crawl between the church benches to play with the beads hanging from the bible when she uses the bookmark:)

I'll post some of the goodies we scrapped at Spier in the next few weeks - just have to get them finished first:)

The Burlesque range from Fabscraps is stunning to work with. It has a booklet with flowers pre-cut!!! Simply press out and roll for stunning matching flowers!! The flowers on these notepads are from the flower booklet - same design spiral flower - just folded differently!

Creating notepads is a fun way to create a little gift and by adding matching paper to the inside of a transparent pen you co-ordinate the gift into something special!

All my cards I created for the Fabscraps Burlesque range are also featured on the Fabscraps website for the USA launch of their paper ranges. Hop over here and have a look! I've designed some more goodies for them but shhhhhhhhhhhh - that is still a secret;)

I'm off to Spier for the Scrapbook Convention this weekend - will most likely need a week holiday to recuperate:)

Crepe Creations

Crepe seems to be the next hot item! This card design is very effective and yet easy to accomplish. It is one I designed for my Burlesque class we had on Woman's Day.

To create the strip add double sided tape to your card where you would like the crepe strip. Ruffle and stick the crepe down as you go. (You can also sew in the centre of the crepe strip and wrinkle it together at one end). For the "flower" effect fold crepe paper in half and on folded side cut strips. Add double sided tape to back of paper (I've used the pink cut-out) and stick crepe paper round and round - almost like making a rosette!

The pink strip is one of the beautiful strip border punches from EK Success - love the swirly bits!

Add some bling and VOILA!

Happy Birthday Fairy Princess!

My little one is turning 6 (SIX!!!!!!) on Friday - totally unbelievable and even a little bit sad:) Where did the time go??

I created this spinner card for her bday - when you move the card from side to side the cupcake spins round and round - very funky!! (my apologies for photo quality - at 2am it was a bit dark outside for photographs and I had to do it in secret!)

I think the butterflies are just to gorgeous - I've seen it done in brown paper with multicolor butterflies (for adult gifts) and it looked awesome! I thought it a nice effect for her and I'm sure the butterflies will fascinate her.

Isn't this the most gorgeous die-cut tag?? All I had to add was a tink picture and some bling and I know she'll love it! (she can even use it to scrap her pages about her bday:).

As we have grandparents and friends the rest of the week (not to mention the 45 cupcakes I'm baking tomorrow!) my next post will only be next week - sjoe, I can't wait! - it's soooo much fun turning 6:)

Lost and Found

I absolutely just fell in love with the MME Lost and Found ranges (one and two!!). I literally JUST finished this LO - as a matter of fact the glue is still wet:), but I just had to post it!
The little bits of glitter on the page is just so awesome (not so bright on the photo thought:) and adds that luxurious feel to the page. I matted the LO on brown and Racy Raspberry (always sounds so delish!!) to create a frame. The Prima ribbon with the bling I just had to have and I like the dimension it adds to the LO. The quote is a Kaisercraft rub-on I cut into strips to fit in my title box - works like a charm;). The Prima ribbon packaging was the perfect colour match to the LO and I added the edged strip to the photo on the right - really "green" on the recycling front:)

The layered flowers are my own creation (funky isn't it:) - use different sizes scallop punches to create a layered flower. I used two of each size and 5 nestable punches. Punch the scallops from antique book pages (literally old second hand antique books!), distress and ink each scallop shape and layer. I used my Big Bite to punch two holes in the centre but a piercer will also do the trick. Spritz with Glimmer Mist and add a button to the centre with some twine. Group with some other flowers and leaves to create a cluster corner on the page!

Band Hero

Ooooh, what fun times!! My hubby got Band Hero for his Bday and I have calluses on places I didn't even know I had places:). We play for ages (as if we have to play games!!) - only problem is we play when all else is done and dusted which means for a whole week we went to bed around 2am and got up at 6am again for work!! Totally wasted!!

This is hubby, friend and little princess in the GROOVE!! Just had to post the photos - will do the LO later!

Although she is only 5 she is our drummer girl!! Dad is on the guitar, mom has the microphone (and no, I cannot really sing!!) and she is on the drums...........and she hits EVERY beat! It is amazing, she does it on easy and even hits the colours on the correct beat! (on beginner it is just a bar and you can hit any drum! - no, not her - easy mode!!). Even caught her singing "do you really want to hurt me" and "pretty woman" for a few days afterwards:)

I havn't had this much fun in years!!!!!!!! If you're up for a gig - drop in, I promise you'll have an awesome time!!

Circle Fun

Don't you just love playing with new techniques? These quirky circles adds such a lovely dimensional effect to your projects!

Punch three circles from different designs (mine are 1 1/4") and fold in half. Adhere together and add to page as desired. Add Thank You stamp to stamped banner and some faux stitching to frame the card. The 3D circles creates a lovely border on a page as well and you can use any design that is symmetrical - even butterflies ................mmmmmmmmmmmm................ gives me an idea ...........................I'm off - will post LO later:)

Oh how I love the school photos! Some are sooo stunning and the next year all you can do is giggle when you get them! This year's is stunning and scrapping them was a breeze (last year we had that shocking lime green background!!:)

I had two journaling blocks ready to journal on when she decided to draw me a picture on each to add to my LO! (she is really getting into this scrapbooking thing!! - hubby even bought her a little trimmer this week!! - she was sooo chuffed:). I added the little apple stamps to compliment the school theme - not sure why we always have apples in mind when we do school LO's:) - hence her little apple drawing!

I love the little self-portrait on the one journaling block - something that adds to the memory of the school year!

Burlesque wishes

These are one of the cards I designed for my class on Women's Day. The range suited the day perfectly and the colours are absolutely awesome to work with. The Burlesque range from Fabscraps is double sided and the design is absolutely awesome.

The chipboard corset is also a Fabscraps product, inked in maroon and ribbon added to lace the corset and a stunning heart pearl (thanks Linette;) to complete the accent.

I like the way the "lights" around the border simulates the lights around a show mirror (the ones you see in the movies:) and that show girls looks ready to PARTY!!

A few faux stitches and a Happy Birthday stamp and VOILA!

Bunting wishes

This is another of the cards I designed for one of my classes. Since bunting is the next hot thing I used it on this card together with some funky clothes pegs and double sided ribbon.

Cut bunting freehand and add to your projects with 3D foam squares to add dimension and interest. Stick the pegs to the card and let dry before adding the ribbon - sooo much easier and the ribbon covers the edge of the bunting where they might not line up perfectly! Clever:)

I love scrapping and sharing with friends and these two make me smile, let my cry on their shoulders, make me laugh till I cry and inspire me every day! We started out as scrapping buddies but it is official - we are best of friends!

Today I went surprising a dear friend on her birthday.
Today I hoped my little one's cold will get better soon.

Today I heard my husband say I love you:) :) - he melts my heart every single day!!!!

Today I said "Unfortunately we cannot have everything we like, otherwise Mommy will have to buy the whole shop!"
Today I believed I am blessed.
Today I felt really tired after a week of the flu!
Today I wondered why we cannot have all the chocolate we can eat!!
Today I bought a piece of scrumptious fudge (and that is why I did not wonder why I do not look like swimsuit model:) and some yummy scrapping goodies
Today I cleaned my teeth, and that is about it:)
Today I was me!................and I loved every second of it!!

I needed something for a friend to remind her that I care and will be thinking of her when they move to another suburb. A little gift did the trick but I decided to make this bookmark - as she reads every night I knew it would remind her that there will always be friends who care even if they are not just down the road anymore!

The gift was not exactly flat enough to add the bookmark and I added it to the gift as a tag! This way it didn't bend and no need for a card or bow on the gift. A spritz of glimmer mist and voila!!

I substituted one photo with three photos and split the title top and bottom to resemble the journaling card on the sketch. I didn't need a lot of journaling space as the photo says it all!

The purple pencil points to my little princess and I've added all the names behind the photo for reference when she is all grown up:)

I decided to use these photos of my mom and dad that I had in my stash for ages. I was blessed with the most awesome parents - what I am today and the way I bring up my little one is a lot thanks to my parents. I always knew I was loved unconditionally - I was always hugged and kissed and praised - I was always prayed for and taught about the love and grace of God - I always knew they'd be there for me NO MATTER WHAT, unconditional support (even if I wasn't always right - which I know now!!:) - witnessing the love between parents and how amazing married life is - freedom to be all I can be but with roots anchored firmly................as I said - I was TRULY BLESSED!! Not only did my parents believe in me - they taught me to believe in myself - I can be all I aspire to be!

This LO is just a little something to remind me how lucky I am - and also remind me to pray for those less fortunate - by no means was it my choosing to be part of such a loving home - it was by the grace of GOD!

OOOh I love the cool feeling of blues and whites! I close my eyes and I can feel the cool summer breeze blowing on my face (yeah, I have a GREAT imagination:). I created this double page LO for Scrapping4Fun and it will be available from Linet as a kit.

I didn't have a lot of prints to play with and used stamps and printed elements to tie the two pages together. The photo on the left page can also be substituted with two 4"x6" portraits or four 2"x3" landscapes, which makes it very versatile to play with to suit your photo requirements.

Don't forget to document the story in your own handwriting (even if it looks like a crab scribbled on your page - our children don't want to know which font we loved - they want to experience us and relive the memories through our handwriting - a little bit of us we leave behind!)

Another of my texture paste projects (everything was already out and messy -thought I'd play some more:).

I love the natural colours - texture paste with cream paint and words painted in chocolate brown. I added the vintage brads to cover the holes for the ribbon and added the beads for a little interest!

This is one of my favourite quotes! I felt like getting my hands dirty and playing with a different medium - I ended up playing and creating with texture paste. It is soooo easy to work with and simply mix it with any acrylic paint for your desired colour.

I used a lovely chocolate brown and layered a thick base of the coloured texture paste. I simply pushed the words into the paste as well as all the other elements - when dry they automatically stick to the canvas. The saying is laser cut cream chipboard and it is just gorgeous!

I love the effect of the project and it hangs in my scrap room to remind me to enjoy even the not so good moments! Hope you are inspired to play:)

Berry Sweet

These berry photos begged to be scrapped - I've had them forever in my stash of photos (yes, I have a stash of photos AS WELL as a stash of scrapbooking goodies - don't we all:). I swapped two of the 4" x 6" photos on the left page with one 6" x 8" enlargement as it had a lot of white space to add my stamped bunting.

That little face is soooo berry sweet, I can just kiss it until my heart melts!! Where did the time go??

Enjoy the challenge and dig through your older photies for some wonderful memories!

Daddy dearest

These are the most gorgeous photos of my Dad's graduation. Isn't he handsome? He was very naughty (still is:) and you can see the look in his eyes when he's smiling!

I used die-cut paper and trimmed the inside with my craft knife - to essentially create a frame and a die-cut piece of striped paper. Distressing the stripe paper gives a lovely look and adding antique book pages behind creates a stunning 3D effect.

A few rub-ons and swirls and a hand stitched circle finishes of the LO beautifully and I just love the brown, green and blue colour combination with just a splash of orange! Some faux stitching around the outside edge just pulls the LO together.

Summer Fun!

The challenge over at Scrap and Stamp Saturday this week is Summer Fun!! I'm sure we all have those amazing summer photos begging to be scrapped. Be creative and join in the fun - remember to add a stamp to the mix:)

The heart on the page was a symbol two ways for me - the love I have for my daughter and the love she has for summer, sun and sea!! She is an outside child and loves every minute she can spend outdoors. I made a freehand drawing of the heart on the reverse of the polka dot cardstock - cut out and then simply wrapped embroidery cotton around the heart. I love the playful effect this adds to the LO.

The stamp on the journalling block is absolutely the cutest in my stash!! Those skinny legs is so adorable!! I've also added the shell and sand castle to tie in with the theme of the LO!

The title reads Sun, Sea and Fun. Playing at the beach we discovered this huge hole someone dug earlier - it was a VERY windy day (it even started drizzling later on) but wasn't too cold if you were sheltered from the wind. Eventually we were the only people on the beach - the wind blew the others homeward!!!- but playing in the hole, the wind swept over our heads and we had the best playtime of the entire holiday!!

Tag, you're it!

I just love working with tags! If you create a few you are never short on a special something to add that wow factor to any gift. Simply wrap a bottle of wine or even flavoured oil in brown paper, add the tag and you're ready to go:) - easy as that!

This tag is one of my designs for my carding class, very easy, but very effective technique.

Y Add a border punch to tag bottom to create visual interest.

Y Ink tag.

Y Use a doilie as a mask to spray glimmer mist for background. (If you don't have glimmer mist use the age old paint and paintbrush technique!!)

Y Cut two birdcages (one in brown, one in music print) and cover just the birdie with music print.

Y Ink birdie and wing in contrasting colour. (I used French Blue Cats Eye)

Y Peep birdie and wing out from under birdcage and attach to tag.

Y Add sequins and seed bead to bottom of birdcage for some sparkle (add a bead eye if you like!).

Y Add two colour co-ordinating beads to wax string (any string will do:) and add to birdcage loop.

Add to your gift or your stash (you can even add it to a LO!!) and Voila...easy and stunning!!

Love of my Life

The challenge at Scrap and Stamp Saturday is about a man in your life you adore, admire or look up to. Husband, father, brother, friend, colleage or even celebrity! The one and only and most important man in my life is DEFINITELY my husband! We've been friends about 23years, a couple for 19 and married for 13 years! .....and yes, I'm still madly in love! My mom always say she has been praying for my husband since the day I was born....and her prayers were answered - I got the best of the best and thank the Lord everyday for the blessing of an amazing husband and a truly astonishing father to our little princess. (I think if they perfected cloning I would be stinking filthy rich:)

Anyway ... back to the scrapbooking! As the challenge involves a stamp of some sort I decided to stamp the title directly onto the photograph with Staz-On - and I love the effect! I wanted to keep the focus on the photo and added a few key embellishments as not to overcomplicate the page. A tissue paper flower, compass (as he is the one keeping me on track:), ticket stubs and ADORE Bingo did the trick. A little bit of faux stitching to add interest and a scallop strip completed the look I wanted.

Tough Times....

The black silhouette images and cut-outs are soooo lovely to play with. I created this card with off-cuts from a LO and by adding the silhouette it just brings a whole new dimension to the card. A punch strip with a few pearls and a quick mountain-valley-fold flower adds extra detail and the photo corner just brings it all together!

Title Stamping

Creating stamped titles can be oodles of fun - playing with stamps you forgot about and creating with supplies that are stashed up can be a perfect challenge to get you out of the rut!
The funky BFF title I created for my BFF LO over at Scrap and Stamp Saturday was the perfect opportunity to play. I had very little space for my title, yet I wanted to portray the special friendship these two have. It also occurred to me that we know what BFF stands for but in 20years time they might have no clue:).

I stamped the BFF with Gel-a-tins letters and added the teeny weeny letters inside with my Making Memories magnet stamp set. It has loads of tiny letters and you build your words or sentiments on a steel plate attached to a handle for easy stamping. It even has three sizes in plates to make life a little easier. I also have a set with different pictures and the little heart was perfect inside the B. I've had these stamps for many, many years and the little letters often come in really handy.

Be creative with your titles and have fun playing:)

Alcohol ink alteration

At the Scrapbook Convention at Spier we made this awesome journal with Tim Holtz! I absolutely loved every second - I love the product, I simple love all the trinkets and goodies and I really like the distressing, inking and grunging!! I was a HAPPY CHAPPY!!

This is the lovely adornment on the spine of the book. Little bits and pieces put together to really have an eye-catching effect on the journal.

The one thing that I wanted to change about the journal was the knob on the front. The white just stood out a little too much to my liking and I wanted it more subtle and ancient looking.

These knobs are so easy to work with. Simply unscrew the knob from the cover and you are ready to alter as you wish!

Vitally important is the Tim Holtz craft mat - one of the best inventions ever!! It resists heat (you can even bake cookies on it!!) and it doesn't stain or absorb.

On the applicator add a few drops of Pearl, Copper and Butterscotch. A few drops Alcohol Blending Solution just blend it all together and you are ready to go..........

....a few swipes and blotches over the knob and VOILA - a beautiful coppery knob to complete my project. The Alcohol Inks are permanent and the nice thing is if you do make a mistake you can remove it with the blending solution and change the colour or amount of ink you've used. This is such a versatile product with so many uses and applications - I feel a lot of inking coming this way......

I actually used four different ranges from Kaisercraft on the one LO as all the colours and embellishments matched perfectly! I love the detailed frame and the quote is so perfect for our little family!

Kaisercraft Saturday Sketch May#2

Hop on over to kaisercraft and play along with the Saturday Sketch Competition. This is the sketch for May #2!

......and this is my take on the sketch!

I just loved the colours of the range and the cuteness of the photo's just had to be scrapped!Instead of strips of ribbon or paper I used mosaic tiles to create the accent piece in the left bottom corner. I love the way some of them shimmer a bit and when added with Glossy accents the glue is also not visible behind the transparent squares.
The circle accents is punched from the printed paper and a Kaisercraft pearl added to add some dimension. I've also added a mosaic tile to the number 5 - showing her age at the time of the photos.

Old Supplies

This is a challenge we can all participate in:). Who doesn't have old supplies!! The challenge at Scrap and Stamp Saturday is to use your old supplies - and off course at least one stamp:)

I used two swirly stamps on the edges of my design and added little blue and pink flowers to the swirls. I've had these flowers for nearly 10 years (bought them in Bangkok!!) and I know most of us has these somewhere in our stash (when I started scrapbooking 11years ago there was not as much going around embellishment wise and we had to be creative!!).

The photo was one of the first I took with my new camera - it was really dark in the living room and with my old camera I would've had a crappy looking photo - I was sooo impressed when this one came out as beautiful - yes it was taken on Automatic setting - give a chap a chance:).

Scrapping with Margie

These are the lovely LO's we created with Margie at Spier!! I loved the paper choice and all the elements we added to the pages. Once again I used the basics and added my own twist to the LO's:) Playing with the Pearl Mists and Inks - LOADS of fun!! Crepe paper is something most of us forgot to play with and this frame around the photo is absolutely gorgeous! The candy floss tinted doilie is just perfect with the paper colours. The double page has lots of little elements and different bits and pieces. We spritzed the background kraft with stunning pink Pearl mist and it looks really yummy!! I just loved the roses and clocks and little elements all over!

Going through some older LO's this one caught my eye. We did the LO with Heidi Swapp a few years back (actually two LO's I combined). The photo is the Pieta marble sculpture from Michelangelo in the Vatican. It is the one place I felt so touched and the marvel of this amazing sculpture will stay with me forever - it is as if you are there in the moment to feel the raw emotion and experience a mother's love and pain. A memory I will treasure forever.

Background Stamping

What a lovely challenge we have this week at Scrap and Stamps Saturdays!! You have to create background paper using .... you've guessed it ..... STAMPS!!

I used a background stamp with music notes from Kaisercraft and repeated the stamp on a vertical sheet to create the background print for my photo....and I must admit, I really like the result. It gives a lot of interest to the page and I would never have used the stamp in this way, was it not for the challenge - and that's why it is awesome to play along - makes you think a little outside the box:)

My Martha punch was perfect to create the lace border and the Prima swirls worked a charm. I've added some flowers (actually came as a strip - I decided to dismantle them:)) for 3D effect and inside each blossom is a Pearl centre - a little touch that draws the idea to the finer detail.

A frame stamp behind the title (stamped only half onto the page) creates a stunning focal point for the title - the title got a little bit lost just on the background page.

This really is My Wish came true. I've forever dreamed (and drooled) of having my own SLR camera (for more than 12 years!) - and this is my new "baby":) My very own Canon EOS 60D.....now I just have to figure out how this F-stop business works:) HEEEEEELP!! ;) I'm enjoying every second of the journey to learn all I can - and now I can actually (for the first time EVER!!) take a photo of my little one on the run - without having to wait 7 seconds for shutter lag:)

Cape Town Relaxation

I do apologise for the lack of LO's this week:). Blissfully on holiday and taking too many photos (once again:). This seagull was VERY interested in our lunch - can you see the naughty in his eyes - he was eyeing our every bite!

The most amazing sunsets in the world (okay, maybe I'm a little biased:) - this beauty is at Campsbay - pure bliss!

Double take!

The challenge this week as Scrap and Stamp Saturday is a double page LO! I always have too many photos of every event and a double page is sometimes just what I need:) Y These photos are so precious - my little one did not enjoy having her face painted (until very recently!) but she loves painting mine (and her dads!). With the world cup in South Africa last year we bought her a face paint set with the national flag colours - this was her creation!!! Y Am I not too beautiful?? Spar Women's 5km

For years I would see the adverts for the Spar fun run/walk and I would always grin and think - sooo glad it's not me!! As the saying goes -"NEVER SAY NEVER!!". I started walking in the mornings with a friend and she suggested we set a goal - the Spar 5km walk - so we did.........

...............and we survived! It was a lot of fun to be part of the "green worm" (19 000 people!) and it was such a lovely atmosphere! Apart from a blister on each heel we made it with a smile!!

Spier with Tim and Margie

Woooooweeee, what a blast of a weekend!! We had the most awesome day at Spier with Scrapbookex and Glenda did (once again!) an absolutely superb job!! I will post the amazing projects we did as soon as I completed them - and they are really STUNNING! We had the most awesome products (some have not yet been launched in USA!!) and goodie bags. Everything was delightful and even the little details on the tables were to die for.

The one photo I will share right now is the lovely dinner we had at Moyo. As promised I dined with Margie, Tim, Mario, Glenda and the amazing team they work with - we had a wonderful evening filled with memories I will cherish for the rest of my life. We had such good laughs and it was amazing to be welcomed with open arms. For them to share a little of their lifes with me is something I will hold dear FOREVER!

Hope you create memories that will fill you heart (pity they won't be with Tim and Margie ;)

In the presence of Giants...

I've blogged the photos of our elephant feeding trip and promised to share a LO:) This photo is so amazing - the little body stroking the baby (doesn't look so baby if you are next to it!) elephant. Looking into each others eyes and the awe for the marvel of God's creation palpable in the photo. Using letter stickers within the journalling emphasises the words elephant awe and brings this point home beautifully.

The crochet heart stole my heart when I stumbled upon it in a (not scrapbooking at all!) tiny little shop. It is just what I needed to lift the colours and draw the eye to the photo.

The layered blossoms and distressed edges just adds a little bit of texture to the LO. Distressing the edges of the photo also creates a frame around the photo.

May you be awestruck by the wonder of God's creation every day!

Silliness all around!

This week's challenge and Scrap and Stamp Saturdays will keep the giggles going and the smiles flowing!! Y The challenge is to scrap a silly moment - we all have those and it is so important to document the memories to keep us smiling years from now! Being from Sunny South Africa we don't often have snow to play in. We get snow in the mountain areas but also not loads (you have to get there within a day of two to really play!). Y Problem - NO problem - in the middle of a major shopping centre they built a huge snow ramp with snow cannons creating the perfect opportunity to PLAY!! Myself and two friends took my little one (good excuse!!!) to tube down the slope. In the end we had more fun than she did!! We went down the hill (and it is VERY steep, I must add!) about 20 times and we had all the onlookers in stitches .......every time we came down there were more giggles and yelps than the previous time! The poor "catchers" at the bottom had their hands full to keep us from propelling into the crowd of onlookers:) Luckily they had a camera ready for action shots and from the look on my face you can see we had FUN!! . Y The best part is we were playing in the snow in the middle of summer with 32degreesC weather outside - how cool is that:) Y Hope this made you recall a silly moment that lit up your face with a smile! Card for a Princess!

12 Hour Scrap

Yes, you heard correctly!! Saturday 19March we had a 12 Hour scrap at The Scrapbook in Bellville - I know we can all scrap for 12 hours straight - even more if we want , but there was one catch - this scrap was from 8pm to 8am!!! 12 Hours through the night!! We were a brave total of 24 and - believe it or not!!- we ALL stayed awake for the whole event!! I went with two dear friends and we chatted for 12 Hours straight!! :) - oh yes, almost forgot, we ATE for 12 hours straight as well - we had a ROOM filled with food, cakes, even popcorn and all the drinks your heart desires (nooooo, soft drinks and coffee - naughty minds:)! . All through the night we had projects to complete and every hour on the hour we had prizes on a lucky draw basis! Tanya Clayton was the planner, organizer, teacher and "entertainment" fort he night and she did an amazing job. Her layouts are beautiful and you can imagine at 3 in the morning it is difficult to inspire people:) . The night started with cocktails (virgin cocktails, ladies!) and then the Red Bull girls arrived with ice cold Red Bull to keep us going - as well as a Red Bull energy shot drink if we needed it at 4 in the morning! . We started off with a cute tag set with cupcakes and yummys - added some Smooch paint and Voila!! Beautiful for any gift! . This was the first LO we completed. ***Keep in mind I have a reputation of not doing what I'm supposed to in any class :) - i like making the projects my own and thus they never look like the original design - the basic principles and ideas are still original but the end result is always different:). In Simple Joys I decided to add a brown mat for the photos and stamped the pink letters with a script stamps as I had a bit of male influence in the photos - didn't want it too pink:). The flowers were punched in class and the leaves hand-cut, I added the twirly flower in the centre with a pearl to round it off. Strips of paper is always an eye-catching design. I added another strip under my title and some ruffles to give the page some dimension.

We decorated a stunning tin and I added a bow and a beautiful border (borrowed my GF's punch!!) at the bottom. The lid was embossed to create a shimmery effect (I used different stamps to what they offered in the class - too lazy (of sleepy) to get up to use theirs!!)

On this LO Tanya made lots and lots of bows with the two ribbons - I decided to use them together and tie a "frame" around my photo! Isn't the photo too cute:) - still need to add a title and journalling to this LO:)

Then - at 4am!!- we had a challenge!! One brown cardstock - half a sheet of patterned paper - another 4" x 4" of patterned paper. No extra paper / cardstock / embellishments were allowed and we had some ribbon, titles and blossoms for our use..........and we had ONE hour!! This is a challenge at any time of the day but at 4am it was loads of fun - this is when the giggling started:)))

My take won me a lovely Cuttlebug Embossing folder and I love a challenge (as you know by now!!) I even had time to stitch around the LO and add little bits of paper behind the teared parts (to fake the matted look)! Not bad for 4am:) - The photo is a self-portrait my little one took with my cellphone!! We ended the night (SADLY!!) with a beautiful gift bag - decorated and embossed! Kaisercraft Saturday Sketch March#3 and Scrap Whispers

This is the lovely Saturday Sketch for March #3 at Kaisercraft.... and this is my take....... I also entered this LO in the Scrap Whispers Challenge as it was absolutely perfect for the Challenge! . Scrap whispers has challenges to keep your mojo going! I decided to enter challenge #93 - create using only portrait photos, no animals, no objects - only people! . This LO is features my little girl with a flower for mommy in her hair. She went canoeing with her dad on our fishing trip and this waterlily was my "surprise" when they returned (she will never go anywhere without bringing me a flower / pebble / stick / insects or something!!). She popped it behind her ear and this was the pose for the photo - soooo cute:). . Hope you get spoiled with a special surprise!

I was happily scrapping yesterday with my little one close by - happily stamping and sticking stickers. After finishing my LO she sat down at my scrap table and asked for her scrapbooking box (she has a crate full of craft goodies when the urge overwhelms her:). This layout was presented to me an hour later with a face filled with pride, beaming from ear to ear!! There is even stitching around the edge of the paper - just like mommy did!!

She asked me to take it with when I go scrapbooking again 'cause she is pretty sure she will win first prize!!
.
Isn't she the cutest ever!!!!!!
.
Luckily I have enough stash to go around for the both of us!!

Stamp and Sketch challenge.

Not only is there a stunning challenge at Scrap and Stamp but they are also revealing a little more about the design team - Moi included!!

This is the sketch you can play with -

and this is my take on the sketch-

I loved using all the little photos as presented in the sketch and added the I love you stamped block as well as stamped stitchin around the edges.

The title is on Dymo tape and reads: Lots of different pieces complete your life! The two puzzle pieces were perfect to go with the title - suggesting the pieces of your life - the photos I used are all the family members completing her life and enriching life along the way!

The lace trim softens the look of the layout and the zip used at the bottom is actually form an old wallet I dismantled ages ago!! I added a scalloped border sticker to the zipper to create a more subtle touch.

Hop over and join in the challenge - lovely stamp set up for grabs - and you have two weeks to enter your LO.

I've had a very interesting weekend scrapping wise but will post all the details later this week....want to photograph everything first:)

Every time we have a little mini photo shoot my little one giggles and prances and poses! everything but a perfect photo:) I wanted to showcase the different photos and decided to make a photo banner on my LO. Banners are really the "in" thing at the moment and I wanted to put a different spin on it. I've added some green stitching to the photo for a visual dimension and used the same green to tie the photo banner and add a stitch to the left side corner.

The little silver angel wings is sooo perfect for this LO - she is sooo silly but she is my little angel!
.
Hope you have an angel of some sorts to light up your life;)

Get Punchy

Today is the announcement of the new DT over at Scrap and Stamp!

Hop over to meet the other talented members of the DT - and take part in the challenges - come on - get creative with stamps!!

This is my first design for the Scrap and Stamp DT! Using any kind of punch your heart desires on your page plus (very important:)) any stamp....we all have them, it's time to use them!!

I used a scalloped border punch on the red strip and also on the photo edges. Then and Now is stamped with stamped arrows to move your eye along the page. The "Now your styling" circle stamp is the perfect accent to the page and is also raised for a 3D effect. I've also stamped a subtle floral stamp above and below the photos to give the LO a softer feel.

The LO is about the differences between when I was a little girl (then) and my little girl in 2010 (now:)). I wanted her to one day remember the technology she used as a child and the antiques I played with :)

Get those stamps out and get creative:)

Masculine design

To design a birthday card for a man is not always the easiest thing (since I love ribbon, blossoms lace and bling - and definitely pink !!). The graphic45 range offers the most amazing designs for masculine projects. This particular friend is not really a golfer so I opted for the car image (my husband said he hopes our friend doesn't expect tickets to Monaco in the card :) Luckily this was 1930 so it will be a bit back to the future:))

In the end I did use a bit of lace and black pearls to add dimension to the card. The 7Gypsies Gaffer tape works perfect with the colours of the paper and I stuck it down with a pinch every inch or so to create a ruffled look. The added photo turns and Tim Holtz tickets just add interest to the design. I even used a red transparency print and my trusted glimmer tag to complete the picture!

I love the end result - hope you do too:)

Black and White and a little something else....

The challenge at Scrap and Stamp is Black and white and only one other colour! With these beautiful photos of my little girl I had to choose pink:)
The background paper is from Kaisercraft and the black swirl stamp is actually a corner stamp from Fancy Pants. I love how you can play with stamps to get different effects and challenge yourself to think out of the box! The huge corners come from my ancient stash of Heidi Swapp - still gorgeous aren't they?

A friend's parents are having a birthday bash this weekend and she asked if i could make them a single card for the both of them......mmmmmmmmmmm.......not too lacy, not to feminine and not to flowery, what will be masculine and feminine at the same time!

The Graphic 45 was absolutely perfect. I used the romantic image with the dancing couple on it (since it is for a couple:) and added little touches to keep it interesting and draw the eye to different places on the card. The size is A5 as she wanted a letter printed in the card that would simply make the font too small to read on a smaller card (especially for an elderly cuople!)
.
I started the background with script paper and added a bracket from the same paper range. The tag is a normal package tag sprayed with glimmer mist using a swirl mask from Enmarc, there is not a lot visible of the tag but the bit of glimmer adds just a little touch of pzazz (if there is such a word:) to the card. I cut the postage stamp strip with stamp deckle edge scissors to make it look like the real deal and added a postage stamp in the top corner to round it off. The black from the postage stamps was a bit harsh and the lace was the perfect solution to tone it down but still leave the contrast.

Just to add a little feminine touch I made the flower with simple mountain-valley folds and added a (ancient!) Kaisercraft brad for a fancy effect. The scalloped border just softens the whole image. Add 3D squares to the back of your image to create a bit of dimension.

The white stationary envelope just didn't do the card justice! I opened the glue sides of the envelope and traced the design onto cardstock. (the envelope do not fit on a 12x12 and I traced one half on another sheet and added about 1inch overhang which I then glued inside the other half of the envelope). Add two swirl stamps and ink the edges and you have an envelope fit for any greeting you can whizz up with your creative skills :)

One, two, three, four, five.........

Ameri caught a fish alive!! It has been many years since I went camping and fishing and actually caught a fish! This is my princess' monster Carp (about 6.5kg!!). She was soooo impressed and even woke up this morning with a smile on her face! We caught about 20 in total and she caught 8! From Bass to Barbel and Carp.
.
We had a wonderful weekend at Bonnievale, camping right next to the river and surrounded by huge shady trees. What a blast. Only problem is it is going to take me at least a week to unpack everything again:)

This photo is about 7am with the sun behind the canoeing buddies (they even caught Bass with a spinner rod, that is after she caught her dad - TWICE:). In her own words: "This was the best weekend ever in the whole wide world - the ONLY thing I like better than fishing is ice cream"

Beautiful photos of my mom and dad's wedding day (I almost said antique photos - don't know if Mom will be too impressed :) These are really precious as I don't have a lot of photos of my grandparents. Don't you just LOOOVE the hats! (I'm pretty sure my grandma made hers as her hobby was hatmaking - how I wish I had her hatmaking goodies to ply with on my LO's!!)

I just love the way the sun glimmers in the stunning pearl and bling swirls - so pretty!

Prima meets Kaisercraft

I find it amazing how two different ranges can perfectly compliment each other! The purple and green is such a vibrant combination and perfect for my masked beauty.

The butterfly is a clear embossed stamp on very lightly coloured printed paper, inked in purple and then wiped clean to leave the detail of the butterfly embossed. I used the packaging of the blossom as an element on the page as the green was an absolute perfect match for the beautiful paper.

The paper has the most intricate and stunning design that just needed a little extra oomph. Use dimensional glaze to create a beautiful glossy effect - but not too overpowering on a busy printed pattern. Cut the design on the paper to create an instant photo corner and add visual impact to your page. The mask charm as a flower center adds to the overall theme of the layout.

May a masked Angel cheer up your day:)

Wall Tattoo

My Christmas gift from Hubby..... to me! :) I saw one of these in an international mag a few years back but the postage was phenomenal and last year I found a local company that made exquisite designs right up a scrapbookers alley!
.
I've had a blank wall above my bed (or shall I say our bed as hubby is also in it:) for years - I wanted something different on the wall and I knew if I just put something up for the sake of having something there it would stay there, so I left the wall bare.......................until now!!!!!!!!
.
My gorgeous, amazing, drool-over wall tattoo is from WallTattoos. Visit them here and have a look at the stunning designs. They post wherever and the service and assistance is phenomenal. Esther is the lady to speak to and they can even make the tattoo mirror image (mine had to branch from the right as there is a door on the left - couldn't imagine a branch coming out of the door:) and a whole hue of colours to suit your taste. They also offer a service for custom designs if you have something you drooled over for years!
.
As you cannot see the actual size of the tattoo I added a picture of a bit more of the room so you can appreciate the size of it. (Actual size 150cm x 120cm). Application was really easy and I did it all by myself (you might have less of a sweat if you have slightly longer arms:0) and had it up in no time.

Can you imagine decorating your scrap room (ooooh I wish!!! I had one of those) with some of these tattoos...

Jack-in-the-box

Scrapping, scrapping, scrapping....what better way to spend a Saturday. I wanted to make a Birthday card for my daughter's friend that really stood out. I didn't want a card in an envelope - something unusual...........mmmmmmmmmmmmmm.........I wanted to put something on top of the gift that can add as a decoration but also add the wow factor...and then I had a brain wave (they don't come often :) but when they do I really appreciate them Hie Hie!).
.
My little one still loves playing with her Jack-in-the-box, why not create a birthday card in the shape of a jack-in-the-box! The result is pretty awesome ....... even if I have to say so myself ;0
.
The box base is about 6cm, if too big it might not be sturdy enough. I made the box from heavy cardstock and then covered it with the stunning Doodlebug paper (the paper just puts me in a party mood!). On it's own the Doodlebug was too thin to hold the pop-up and all the decorations.
.
The boooiiiiiiiiiiiiing was created using 2inch strips (3 each made a good booooiiiiiiiiiiiing) of two colours and folding one over the other. The end square is then decorated and pops up with the birthday message when you open the lid.
.
I struggled to open the lid the first few times and thought the box might not last as long if they fiddle with the lid every time, trying to pry it open. The Big-bite makes a perfect size hole and I added the beautiful rose button on the outside (as a little knob) and on the inside a stunning glitter button (if you make a just a knot the ribbon pulls through the hole as you open the lid:)
.
Knowing little girls there had to be a fairy somewhere, the ribbon and little fairy charm is the perfect touch to make a little girl giggle with glee!
.
Mmmmmm, you ask, why is there two Jack-in-the-boxes????? Well......couldn't give one to the friend and not make my daughter one, now could I?
.

A Teacher's Love

OOOO I like working with the bold colours of the Sassafras range. It matched this funky photo perfectly and really added to the mood of the LO. The designer for Sassafras also had a splendid idea to create a lovely scalloped/shaped border strip (matching the paper!) on the back of the price/name strip we normally snip off and chuck away! e.g. the owl strip and music notes. I must admit some of the paper is really bright and bold but I cut out little pieces to add the colour burst and focal point but not overwhelm the LO. (On this LO I used the mushroom/snail/cloud/owly bits)

I had a packet of school embellishments in my stash that was too bright and not of amazing quality but combined with the bright paper they just added the dimension needed. They even have little shaker boxes with bling (when last did you make one of those??). Reminds me, I saw some cards with a shaker box filled with jelly beans or hundreds and thousands.... my daughter has a friends bday coming up..............mmmmm............... might try that ( when you turn 6 it might be a hit!!). Will post the end result (you are either going to love it or we are going to have sore ribs giggling about it:) - will have to wait and see.

A warm Hellooooooo and a wonderful 2011!!! Better late than never they always say:). I'm back at last and wanted to post this project - I had loads of fun completing it and playing with all my goodies again. The blank base of the project is a book box (at least that is what it said on the back!!). It is a wooden box to put away your precious goodies and it is a lovely gift (made it for my little girls teacher - having a bday tomorrow, can't believe I'm already making birthday gifts, still recovering from Christmas:))

On the side profile you can see it looks like the pages of a book. I painted all the corners and the inside sides of the book. Firstly removed the hinges (note to self - mark the spot where they are suppose to go BEFORE covering the project with layers of glue and paper!!! - luckily the wood wasn't too hard and I just screwed (literally screwed) the screws where I wanted them!!) then covered the front and inside front as well as the back and side with glue and my trusted brayer.

The paper is all from Kaisercraft (actually 3 different collections - they match perfectly!!!) and I love the effect with the key patterned paper. The paper didn't cover the whole project and I added the striped border at the bottom and used my border punch to create the scallop effect.

Then came the final touches - decorating!! Some Tim Holtz swirls, beautiful sugar coated Prima blossoms and a pearly swirl created a lovely ensemble on the front cover. I added the butterfly to add a little extra oomph and sparkle. (I started with a brown butterly in the same range but I love the way the blue butterfly accentuates the teal in the paper!) The keyhole from Tim Holtz's grungeboard, spritzed with Glimmer Mist and inked for a shadow effect. The corners just adds a little finishing touch.

The paper on the inside is soooo beautiful, I didn't even need anything else!

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow...

Just as I thought I wouldn't be able to post before seriously being on holiday.......I just had to share this photo with you:)

We went snow tubing in Canal Walk Shopping centre. They built a snow ramp in the middle of the centre - and as you can see from my facial expression it is definitely a speedy descent. It was the most fun I've had in a long time!!! We went with friends and I'm sure everybody in the centre knew when we were on our way down - yelps and giggles surrounded us all the way downhill.

After the tube experience we went to the games arcade - I've never been so excited to spend money in my life! Every time we got tickets as prizes we were more excited than my little one - must be contagious:) In the end we could've bought shares in a toy shop with the money we spent but the blue dolphin (and don't forget 2 mini fizzers!!) we won is worth so much more:) . Had a blast!!

May you have a total blast this holiday season and may you experience the feeling I had when they took this picture! ;)

Wow, I must admit these were a few very busy weeks!! (I suppose it is obvious with the lack of blog posts:). Did some scrapping and made some more gifts but not even getting close to photographing everything and posting it :(..........this means lots and lots of posts for the new year lined up - yeee-aaaaah!!

My Christmas wish to you is a festive season filled with love and kindness and loads of laughter (yeah, there will be some tears but by the grace of God we can also live through those - they cleanse the soul and remind us how lucky we are to be given this wonderful life to live and experience everyday!) - and don't forget the eating (lips smacking and drooling already!!)

May you always know God's love and protection surrounds you every breath you take - ALWAYS.

Tag Happy

This is what scrapping is all about. I had hours of fun playing with these tags! I used ordinary brown shipping tags (about R27 for 100 from a stationary shop) in different sizes to start with. This is where Tim Holtz come into the picture! Use lots of different distress ink (I even used blue and vivid orange!!) over each other to really distress the look of the tag.

Start of with a background stamp (the new Kaisercraft ones work well as do the Glitz Design stamps). The image consists of loads of different very small stamps (the Delish stamps are perfect) in different colours (I used the same distress inks I coloured the tags with). Some sentiments were stamped in black or red to create a focal point and a great final image. Border punches finish of the edges of the tags (I didn't use the punches on all the tags - some are still "plain bottomed" - (not a description one often uses :)

Ink the edges of the tag (some were inked in sepia, others in charcoal) and add a ribbon to add the finishing touch.

A simple sentiment in the teensy tiny Kaisercraft letter stickers (they are REALLY tiny!!) completes this tag. Tied to a rose it conveys the message perfectly!

I heard a birdie tweet..

I absolutely adore the Birdie Wreath from Kaisercraft! As I wasn't sure what to do with a birdie wreath (a Christmas wreath I hang on my front door - yeah, I have that idea:) but a birdie wreath was a bit different. Then my GF had the bright idea to make a mirror out of it - that way it makes a very useful and stunning gift!!

......and there you have it - beautiful isn't it? I like the funky photos with the sky and myself taking the pics - just had to add both - hie hie!

The birdies were covered and I then added a bling eye and covered the whole bird with dimensional glaze - they blended so perfectly with the paper, I needed them to stand out a bit more. The mirror is actually a perspex mirror - Hubbies clever idea!! It is extremely light and if the wreath does fall it isn't back to square one with a shattered mirror :o

I added some teensy details to make it more interesting on the eye - the ribbon adds a bit of flair and this little birdhouse charm was just too cute. In the end a lovely gift for a very special person:)

Now this is pampering for you!!! If they know it is your wedding anniversary at Spier this is the reception you get!! Even the floor was strewn with rose petals and the bath was half filled with rose blossoms, petals and floating candles! Chocolates and wine to complete the picture. Such a lovely gesture and it made is feel so special:) P.S. Sorry to disappoint you, the cutie on the bed doesn't come with the room :( hie hie

This family photo was taken on our wedding anniversary as we fetched our princess from Ouma - they were gallivanting at the beach and we took this lovely family photo. I am sooooo blessed!!

Magnet Mania

I think you're gonna love these tins as much as I do! The tins are much bigger and the magnets are made from the STUNNING Prima blossoms (crystals on them look just like dewdrops!). i found them a bit bulky for LO's going in an album, but they are absolutely perfect for OTP projects. For these flowers I used a magnet with a bit more cling - the Prima flowers are much heavier than the teeny tiny pebble magnets. On the lid I added some pearls with my new I-rock tool - totally cool!!

These square tins have five magnets inside - the flowers were bought in bulk and I spritzed them with some glimmer mist to give them a bit of oomph!! The lace flower on the top is my own creation (yes, my friends giggled and laughed when I created it - soooo big!! - bet now they're eating their words:)

P.S. The weekend at Spier was totally AMAZING - felt like a second honeymoon - absolutely perfect!! (and I think I gained at least 10kilos from all the Moyo, picnics and lavish bfasts!!)
